• Grade One: The most expensive willow with an attractive appearance, typically featuring at least six straight grains. There may be some visible red wood on the blade, but the playing area should be clean.
• Grade Two: Excellent quality with more visible red wood on the blade. This does not affect the playability, and the bat will have a similar number of grains as a Grade One with potentially minor blemishes.
• Grade Three: A popular choice offering excellent value for money. A Grade Three bat may have up to half the face with a tint of red wood, but it won't impact the playability. It typically has around five grains on the face, which may not be perfectly straight, and there may be some minor specks or butterfly marks.
• Grade Four: Usually, over half the blade will have visible red wood, but the playability remains good. Grade Four bats often have only four grains and may feature butterfly marks and specks.
• Grade Five: Similar to Grade Four but with more visible staining, resulting in slightly lower cosmetic appearance.
